Ready to Make A Change?

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself? I am here to help connect you back to your most authentic and loving self.

I'm Justin Jahnke--a licensed professional counselor based in San Antonio, Texas. I enjoy connecting with people who are struggling with low self-esteem and harsh self-criticism, persistent depression and anxiety, addiction issues, relationship challenges, or just those feeling directionless in life.

My counseling sessions are designed to compassionately and respectfully confront what you are going through in a safe, secure, non-judgmental environment. I host sessions in-person, online, by phone, and outdoors through Walk & Talk Therapy.

My approach is best suited for people who are seeking therapy that is more active, direct, and experiential than traditional office-based talk therapy.

Curious if this approach is right for you? You’re welcome to schedule a free 15-minute online consultation with me. We’ll talk through what you’re looking for and what working together would actually look like.

To have peace, you can begin by walking peacefully.

About Me - Justin Jahnke, MS, LPC, LCDC, NCC

In 2015 I walked the Camino de Santiago, a footpath that leads from the tip of southern France, over the Pyrenees Mountains, and all the way across Spain. The path ends on the Spanish coast, overlooking a roiling Atlantic Ocean. During my journey, I experienced the subtle power of quiet reflection and connection with one's true self. I also connected with my fellow travelers on a deeper level than ever before. I experienced the innate goodness that nourishes the human spirit. After the walk ended, I took what I gained from the journey with me and became a licensed therapist. My purpose in life is to encourage others to be their most honest, true selves.

Currently, I work with people who are "struggling to stay afloat" in their lives. That might mean you're dealing with depression or anxiety, lack of self-esteem and self-worth, relationship and communication troubles, addiction issues, or issues sometimes specific to men and couples.

I am a licensed professional counselor, a licensed addictions counselor, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I graduated with a Masters in Science from UTSA and live with my family in Central San Antonio. I am inspired by creativity, exercise, art and music, stories of survival, animals and nature, and strong, supportive communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at justin@groundedpaths.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In the most direct terms, Walk & Talk is outdoor mental health therapy. That means we are literally talking while we walk/move. Walk & Talk is an experiential type of counseling that combines traditional therapy modalities, life coaching, gentle but consistent body movement, and the natural benefits of being outdoors. It's like counseling--but outside!

Think of therapy as "growth and healing." We are addressing problems and challenges that almost every person faces at one point in their lives. You can expect a warm, safe, nonjudgemental energy combined with deep listening and genuine respect. We will also set goals, gain clarity, and track our progress. My aim is to deepen and ground the relationship you have with yourself so that you can experience a more authentic and connected way of being.

50-minute session are $165. 90 minute-sessions are $240. I do not accept insurance at this time. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on need.

I accept credit/debit card, check, and cash. You can pay for sessions through a number of secure online and app-based portals. You can book sessions through email, text, or online calendar. Yes, I offer free 15-minute online consultations. Email me to set up a free consultation.

Yes! I am happy to meet you online (or by phone) for our sessions.

Light rain won't stop us. Heavy rain, unreasonable cold or heat will. If the weather is extreme, we will pause the session and communicate about a make-up. One benefit of early hours is that it won't be too hot during San Antonio summers!

If you need to cancel, please communicate that at least 24 hours in advance. If it less than 24 hours, you will be charged the full price for the session. All clients receive one "grace cancel." That means, I offer one free 24-hour-or-less cancellation. I will make every effort to ensure  you are aware of my cancellation policy and I always encourage open communication. In short, my aim is to be reasonable while also respecting my time.

I serve Central San Antonio with focus on the Pearl District. I am not able to offer services outside of Central San Antonio at this time.

I am a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a licensed addictions counselors (LCDC), and a nationally certified counselor (NCC).

Yes. I am CPR certified. I come prepared for minor non-emergency situations. If there is a medical emergency, we will call 911.

You can expect to cover about a mile and a half at a reasonable pace. I will tailor our pace to your needs and comfort. You need to be able to walk or move comfortably in an outdoor setting. This is not elevated heart rate exercise or strenuous exercise. This is casual walking in a peaceful, easy setting.

Confidentiality is very important in counseling. I will always protect and respect your privacy. Indoors or online, privacy/confidentiality is assured. If we are counseling outside, I cannot guarantee it because we will be walking and talking in public. I will make every effort to maintain privacy and discretion while acknowledging  the limits of this type of therapy.
