Grounded Paths Walk & Talk Therapy

The Basics: What is Walk & Talk?

The Power of Experience: Why Walk?

The Power of Experience: Why Walk?

Scenic river with lush greenery and a walking path.

Walk & Talk is an experiential therapy that blends movement, the benefits of being outdoors, and traditional counseling. This is a side-by-side relationship rather than the more traditional face-to-face counseling you might be familiar with. We are experiencing the outdoors, walking by the San Antonio River, processing emotions and experiences while we move. Walk & Talk is outdoor therapy that moves gently and purposefully through nature.

Moving your body, being outdoors, absorbing light, using all of your senses—these are nourishing experiences. During our sessions, we are in motion, in action, engaging ourselves fully. Moving one's body has a ripple effect that extends beyond the session. The paths we travel become safe and familiar places where healing and growth can occur. Walking is both subtle AND powerful. This combination can be transformative. I experienced this combination in a profound way during my time on the ancient Camino de Santiago footpath in Spain.

The Difference: Being Outdoors

The Fit: Is this a good fit for me?

For some people, an office setting can feel restrictive, formal, or uncomfortable. Moving the counseling session outdoors opens up new pathways that change the counseling experience into a side-by-side, movement-based therapy. The openness of nature and the movement of the body can make a big difference to those who feel uncomfortable in a traditional counseling setting.

A Note on AI

The Fit: Is this a good fit for me?

The Cost: How much will this cost?

AI has become a part of our lives and people are increasingly turning to it for life advice and therapy. While AI has benefits like providing information, general affirmation, and directional reflection (what AI therapy does best), technology cannot replace person-to-person connection. We are made for connection with others. A warm, safe, nonjudgemental, and collaborative relationship can heal, transform, and create lasting change. AI can give you information—it cannot walk alongside you.

My aim is to be transparent with all fee structures and always communicate my policies to you in advance of payments. I am here to collaborate with you. Reach out to me if you have additional questions.
